Charity i sa client with Amazing Grace Food Pantry

Meet Charity

Charity has 8 kids to feed. With COVID-19 and kids home all day since March, she just can’t keep up with their growing tween/teens appetites. We’re so glad to have her as part of our pantry family.

They are amazing people who pray with us and for us, know our children’s names, and do whatever we need day and night. Their hearts and souls are into it and they bless the community weekly.

A client wrote a poem for the pantry to share with the community. Thank you, Sally!

Stagnant waters breed disease,
So get on up.. and stir the pot,
It’s time. .. to seize,… new life beyond,
And feel. ..the rustling breeze.

Inside of you.. like Waterfalls.
There’s beauty waiting.. to- be released.

Ask for Help, then get on up…
Cause Its time  to carry on.
No time to waste /nor time to stall

Cause..
“We’re all a link in the chain.. of life,
And Together, we can ease our  strife.
Live with pur…pose, sail ahoy. . enjoy.enjoy
Cause We’re all spokes.. in the wheel of life”

Hap..piness is in us all..
Listen to your heart . as it calls from within…
Like watered seedlings you will sow
By helping others you will grow
Like a planted seed.you’ll bloom
Sharing Love can heal a wound

Cause..
“We’re all a link in the chain.. of life,
And Together, we can ease our  strife.
Live with pur…pose, sail ahoy. . enjoy..enjoy
Cause We’re all spokes.. in the wheel of life

Face your fears/Wipe your tears/ turn.. the gears.
Stir the pot and watch your life transform.

As you grow
a better world you’ll come to know.

So come on..The time is Now…

Lets Go!!

Sheriff Deputy Acosta assists food pantry client

Casey

Casey had a stroke 2 years ago, leaving him disabled and without a car. He doesn’t want to impose on anyone to call for help. He, instead, uses a walker to go to Amazing Grace Food Pantry 8 miles away for food. Often passersby will give him a lift and another client or pantry volunteer will take him home.  Recently, Deputy Acosta gave Casey a lift to pantry and waited till he finished shopping then took him home. We can’t praise our Collin County Sherriff’s office enough for caring for each member of our community.

James and Karen

Karen discussed with me about one year ago the need to get involved in a community service activity. We have been retired a few years and needed to do some volunteering. Karen looked for a pantry to volunteer in and selected Amazing Grace because of the people, the process, and how it helps those in our local area, where she and I live. After a few months I decided to join her one day and am really glad I did. Neither of us had a lot growing up, and there were times that my family when I was a child had no food and we relied on assistance. We discovered what a tremendous group of people have accomplished through this organization toward providing meals to those in need whether it be long term or short term. The process is very solid and we are proud to be a part of such an organization.

Jesus teaches us that we are to serve and we are to feed people, both physically and spiritually. We have made many new friends by volunteering at Amazing Grace and have discovered that regardless of where we are in our own walk, our mission is clear. That is provide a means for people to obtain food where a means may not otherwise exist. The leadership of Amazing Grace exemplifies what Jesus taught and we are proud to be a part of an organization that is so focused on defeating hunger in our county.

Rod volunteers at Amazing Grace Food Pantry every week

Rod

I first learned about Amazing Grace Food Pantry through our church web site and have been volunteering at AGFP since early 2018. I started volunteering as a way to give back to our local communities. Friends have helped me in various ways over the years and it feels good to finally be able to give back in a tangible way.

Within a few months of volunteering, I quickly realized that this is much more than just providing food and nutrition to people in need. AGFP is an organization of multiple families. The clients on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays connect, bond, support, and learn from each other. The same is true for the volunteers helping each day. We connect as a team, work together for an incredible cause, and learn from amazing people – clients and volunteers alike. We are all there to support each other through life’s many challenges and successes.

It is great to be a part of the team!

Barb and Judah volunteer

Barb and Judah

My adult son Judah and I started to volunteer at Amazing Grace food pantry about 7 months ago. We were looking for something to get us out of the house, having been a stay at home mom for many years.

We wanted to try it for 1 day a week to start with, just to “see” how it was there. Once we started there we discovered the awesome staff and other volunteers that made us feel so very welcome. It wasn’t too long before we decided to give more than 1 day.

We really enjoy the family atmosphere and the fact that everyone working there comes from all different walks of life. It’s very refreshing to me and it’s bringing a much richer dimension to our lives that we are so thankful for to this day. Besides this there comes the joy of helping people feed their families. Unless you work there you have no idea how much food passes through the doors each week nor how many people are helped.

We also love to see all the different ages come to volunteer, from family’s with young children to senior citizen’s. Everyone can have place to fill at Amazing Grace! My only regret is that we did not find Amazing Grace sooner!

Fani - Food Pantry Client

Fani

Since Amazing Grace Food Pantry started it’s ministry in 2007, we’ve opened each client day with prayer. The clients that arrive early love to join in. Prayer requests are mentioned, answered prayers are spoken with praise and often shared testimonies like this one.

Fani had a huge praise that she gave to the waiting room after opening prayer. Fani was the client who received a new microwave from volunteer Preston from Church 11:32. She was so excited to tell everyone how God has been working in her life because she has been giving Him the praise for the little things provided to her. That woman was on fire for the Lord! She got a nice round of applause after her 3 minute testimony.

Jessi and her girls volunteer every Tuesday

Jessi

Jessi and her girls take time out of their busy summer to volunteer every Tuesday to serve clients. They fill boxes full with meats, ice cream, coffee, pet food and any hygiene products needed. The girls have fun decorating the client boxes with designs and smiley faces to bring cheer to struggling families each week.
