Team Lead Nancy notes Thursday as a “triumphant” day!
The team prepared a full contingent of small and large family food boxes for Saturday. Various donated items were inspected, sorted and stocked. The storage room was given a much-needed reorganization.
The big news for the day was the arrival of 3 large freezers, donated to the pantry by Sharing Life in Mesquite (THANK YOU!!). Volunteers had to temporarily remove some door trim just to fit these into the pantry (wow!). After some electrical work, these freezers will be up and running, providing the pantry with at least double the previous freezer capacity. This means we can receive, store and give out more frozen products including meat, frozen vegetables and other items, as well as luxury items such as ice cream (yay!).
Without donated equipment, money and much more, Amazing Grace Food Pantry could not have grown to serving over 1,000 people every month. We plan to keep growing as the need for helping others grows. If you know someone in need, please spread the word about us. If you wish to get involved and make a difference helping others, visit our Volunteer Page for more information.
